Privacy Policy for Smart Tab Manager

Andrew Moon ("we", "us", or "our") built the Smart Tab Manager Chrome extension ("the Extension"). This Privacy Policy explains our commitment to your privacy and how we handle data in accordance with the Google Chrome Web Store User Data Policy.
1. Information We Collect and How We Use It
Data Stored Locally (On Your Device)
The Extension requires access to your browser tabs and tab groups to function. The following data is processed and stored locally on your device using the chrome.storage.local API:
Tab Metadata: URLs, titles, and grouping configurations used to sort and search your tabs.
Recently Closed Tabs: A list of URLs and titles of tabs you have closed, saved so you can reopen them later. This data persists on your device until you clear it or uninstall the Extension.
Settings & Preferences: Your theme choices, auto-grouping toggles, and "unused tab" thresholds.
None of this data is ever transmitted to external servers. It remains strictly on your local machine.
Account Information (Future)
To support future subscription features, we may use the chrome.identity API to retrieve a unique identifier (such as an obfuscated GAIA ID) associated with your Google Account.
Purpose: This identifier will be used solely to verify your subscription status and manage access to premium features.
Email: We will only collect your email address if it is explicitly required for communication or billing support via our payment processor.
2. Limited Use Disclosure
Our use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
We do not use your data to serve personalized or interest-based advertising.
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.
We do not use your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
3. Third-Party Services
Stripe (Future)
When paid subscriptions are introduced, we will use Stripe for payment processing. Stripe handles your payment details (like credit card numbers) according to their own Privacy Policy. We never see or store your full payment information.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
Local Data: All tab and grouping data is deleted automatically when you uninstall the Extension or manually clear your browser's extension storage.
Subscription Data: Any account identifiers stored for subscription purposes will be retained only as long as your account remains active. You may request deletion of this data at any time by contacting us.
5. Security
Because your tab data is stored locally, its security depends on the security of your personal device. We recommend keeping your browser and operating system updated to the latest versions.
